Luxury fashion house Chanel opened a new boutique in the Perth CBD on June 10. Standing at 700 square metres in the heritage-listed Wentworth Building in Raine Square – on the corner of Murray and William streets – the two-storey boutique is grander than the previous Chanel store, which opened on King Street a decade ago. (The international brand isn’t the first to abandon King Street for the Raine Square retail precinct, with Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co having relocated in 2019 and 2020.)
Award-winning architect Peter Marino has been designing Chanel boutiques for more than 25 years and has made his mark on the new boutique with a timeless decor that complements the historic building. The design is also inspired by the Paris apartment of the brand’s founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, with a minimal colour palette of black, white and beige.
Two ground-floor entrances take customers through the dedicated fragrance and beauty section, and collection of bags, shoes, small leather goods and jewellery. On show are Chanel’s iconic designs, such as the classic 11.22 flap bag, next to new designs from the spring/summer 2022 collection by Virginie Viard.

SUBSCRIBE NOWCustomers can experience Chanel’s virtual makeover service in the dedicated fragrance and beauty boutique, as well as consultations with Chanel beauty experts in which you can test the full range of fragrances and skincare.
Upstairs is a ready-to-wear salon, where plush lounges and armchairs are covered in Chanel tweed, and, in an Australian first, the change rooms can be personalised to each customer’s preferred airflow, music and lighting.
The current collection revisits the ’80s and ’90s with vibrant colours, fresh prints and classic monochrome creations. If you missed the Paris runway show last October, you can view it upstairs on the screens.
