Earlier this month, Sydney-born jewellery label Sarah & Sebastian opened its first WA flagship in a heritage-listed building on King Street in Perth’s West End. For the past 12 years, the eponymous brand, started by designers Sarah Munro and Robert Sebastian Grynkofki, has been crafting pieces inspired by nature and European architecture.

Not only will the store give WA shoppers the chance to try on pieces in-person, it also gives them access to Sarah & Sebastian’s in-store experiences. These include soldering sessions for custom-fit permanent pieces, and styling consultations for engagement rings or occasional pieces.

The brand’s ear alchemy piercing sessions – which one Broadsheet editor said was largely responsible for an uptick in “well-dressed ears” in Sydney – are coming to WA offering styling and piercing sessions in store.

The shop’s Akin Atelier fit-out is equally stylish. Neat black trim on the white storefront exudes simplicity. Inside, smooth grey aluminium panels sit alongside lime-washed exposed brick, earthy green hardwood floors and curved metallic jewellery panels.

The shimmer of the aluminium and the green undertones, although futuristic, were designed to evoke the ocean. This is a nod to both the underwater landscapes that co-founder Sarah Munro says inspired the collections, and the brand’s conservation work with The Xanthe Project.
