Last Saturday morning, Broadsheet Access members piled into the Mulberry Group’s newest cafe, Square One Rialto. It’s the flagship offering from Square One Rialto, the Melbourne roastery founded by Nathan Toleman, the hospo heavyweight behind Liminal, Lilac Wine and Hazel.

Square One Rialto’s menu boasts 10 unique dishes from 10 top chefs, including Victor Liong (Lee Ho Fook), Nagesh Seethiath (Manze), hummus hero Tom Sarafian and even Nuno Mendes from London’s Lisboeta.

Access booked out the space exclusively for members in opening week, where they sampled every single dish on the menu. When it came to standout dishes, members were big fans of Jemma Whiteman’s beetroot and onion tart; salted cod on sourdough; and Victor Liong’s cumin lamb pancake, just to name a few.

Between tastes, Broadsheet’s national editor Michael Harry hosted a casual Q&A with Toleman to hear about how Square One came to life.

Tom Sarafian’s cooking class was exclusive to Broadsheet Access members, who also had cheaper tickets to lunch. Join today for more one-off events like these.
