Three years after they left Brissie amid some teething issues and competition from Neuron and Beam – and almost six years after they first popped up here – Lime’s bikes and scooters are back on a footpath near you. Efficient, fun and green (both in terms of eco-friendliness and hue), the hassle-free transport options are the perfect way to cut through Brissie’s gridlocked traffic.
Lime’s fourth-generation e-scooters are the brand’s most intuitive to ride, with a wider footboard and a lower centre of gravity than other scooters. It’s pretty simple, but if you’re keen to study up before you scoot, Lime has tutorials online.
Hitching a ride is easy. You download the app to check where the closest bike or scooter is to you, then scan the QR code on the handlebars and zip off. You’ll have to follow all of Queensland’s rules for personal mobility devices – which differ from other states. You must wear a helmet and are limited to riding on “road related areas” such as bike paths and footpaths. Vehicles are speed capped and there are banned areas such as the Queen Street and Brunswick Street Malls and a few bridges.
